Have you always wanted to write a novel?
Well, you’ve come to the right place!
Every great story needs an unforgettable protagonist – someone your readers will want to follow through all the ups and downs of the journey you create for them. But knowing who that person should be, and how to develop them from a mere concept into a character that feels vital, multi-faceted, and completely unique can be daunting.
This is where we – bestselling authors Isabelle Broom and Cathy Bramley – come in. Having now written 30 novels between us, we thought it was about time we shared some of our accumulated wisdom and helped a whole new generation of writers take their first steps towards becoming published novelists.
In our one-day writing workshops, we’ll teach you tricks on how to choose the right protagonist, show you what steps to take in order to find out everything you need to know about them, and cover topics such as unique voice, common flaws, cast lists and character mapping. We’ve come up with a number of practical exercises to get your creative juices flowing, and we’ll also be inviting a special guest along to give you an exclusive insight into how the publishing industry works.
The next writing workshop will take place later this summer in Nottingham. There will be ten slots available per date, and the schedule will run as follows:
10.00-10.30am: Arrival, tea, coffee and introductions

The cost for the full day, which includes lunch and unlimited hot and cold drinks (as well as plenty of biscuits!), is £150 per person. NB The venue is fully accessible and allergies/dietary requirements will be catered for.
